Artist Bio:

​

Caren Bestbier studied Fine Art (Painting) at the Port Elizabeth Technikon from 1998 - 1992 under the tutorage of Vivian van der Merwe.

Caren has taught art to both children and adults.

 

In 1993 she held her first solo exhibition of paintings at the EPSAC Gallery in Port Elizabeth. While working at the Port Elizabeth Opera House she held her second solo exhibition in the Opera House foyer in August 1995.

After a move to Johannesburg in 1997, she joined the Miniature Art Society of South Africa, and participated regularly in their exhibitions over the next 5 years, as well as serving as Secretary to the Society in 1999.

Since her return to Port Elizabeth in 2002, she has participated in numerous exhibitions, and held a joint solo exhibition in 2006.

 

In 2011 she was included in the book: “Art and Artists of the Eastern Cape”.

She was a featured artist in the May/June 2013 issue of “The South African Magazine”.

 

She was interviewed for Bay TV’s “Eye on Art” program in September 2013.
